Previously, we took a look at how Ruler Analytics integrates with other web apps using Zapier. In this article we are going to dive deeper, focusing on how Ruler Analytics specifically integrates with SalesForce.
A Quick Look at Zapier
For those of you who have no previous knowledge or experience of Zapier, here’s a quick explanation that could change the way you work forever!
Zapier is a tool that allows you to connect one web app to another, making it easy to automate many of the simple tasks that currently take up too much of your time.
It is designed for users with little or no technical knowledge; you don’t need to know anything about code, so don’t be scared!
Zapier allows you to follow its self-explanatory onscreen prompts and basically does all the hard work for you.
The link that integrates two apps is called a Zap. A Zap is created by choosing a trigger from one app and an action that relates to the other. As an example, you could create a Zap that when you get an email in Gmail (trigger), notifies you by SMS (action).
To create a Zap, you simply choose the appropriate trigger and action from the lists each app provides, and leave the rest up to Zapier.

Making it Work with Ruler Analytics
In the past, you would have required an API key from Ruler Analytics before being able to integrate with Zapier. However, we are pleased to announce that we are now officially part of the Zapier website so there is no need for an API key anymore.
You do still need to be signed up with Zapier in order to use it, though. Zapier is currently offering a 14-day free trial for new users. You can sign up here.
Let’s get started!
We have put together an easy step-by-step guide to creating a Zap between Ruler Analytics and SalesForce, to save you the tedious task of transferring your data manually. It really is this easy:
Step 1 and 2: Once you have created your Zapier account, select the Make a Zap option. First, you will need to choose your trigger app. To do this, type “Ruler Analytics” into the search bar, then select.
Step 3: Next you will be given a choice of 5 triggers:
- New Conversion
- New Call
- New Company
- Returning Company
- Missed Call
Your choice of trigger will all depend on your type of business. For this example, we are going to choose New Conversion. Once you have made your decision, simply continue.
Steps 4 and 5: If you have already entered your Ruler Analytics account details then you can move straight onto Step 6; if not then simply fill in your account details by using the onscreen instructions. Here you will also need to identify the site you want to track if your Ruler account has more than one.
If set up correctly then you will receive a notification, which will allow you to view your conversion to make sure everything looks OK.
Steps 6 and 7: Zapier will test your trigger by locating an existing conversion. You will need to make sure that you have at least one recent conversion created and it matches the trigger option you chose.
Step 8: Next you will be prompted to choose the app you want the action to relate to, for example, Salesforce.
Steps 9 and 10: Select an action, for example, “Create New Lead”. Select, then follow the onscreen instructions to Connect Your Account and hit Continue.
Step 11: You will then be asked to set up your Salesforce Lead. Name and Company are compulsory here; all other fields are optional. To select a name and company, simply click on the plus sign next to the field and select the appropriate options from the list.
Step 12: Once you have chosen your desired options you’re ready to go! You will start receiving data from Ruler into your SalesForce account straight away.
