Receive Notifications about New Calls, Companies, and Conversions Direct to your Mobile or Email Inbox
With Ruler Analytics, you can collect and collate countless pieces of data about things like leads generation and visitor journeys. But what if you want to use this information on other applications or share your findings with clients and colleagues? Well, thanks to Zapier, this is easier than ever before.
Zapier is a tool that enables you to connect Ruler Analytics with other web apps online, making it easier to “automate tedious tasks.” Zapier works by using things called ‘Triggers’ and ‘Actions’ to increase efficiency and establish better lines of communication. But don’t worry if you have never heard of these terms before, as we will explain everything you need to know below.
What is a Trigger?
A trigger is something that happens in an app, such as a conversion on your website that has been identified by Ruler.
What is an Action?
An action is a step that takes place immediately after a trigger has happened. Depending on the trigger type, you can have this information sent to an email address, mobile phone number, or even another platform such as Salesforce or Trello.
Example of Triggers and Actions Working;
A conversion happens on your website (trigger), which you then receive an SMS about (action). More examples and further information about Triggers and Actions can be found here.
What apps does Zapier Support?
Zapier supports more than 500 different apps, but some of the most well known include:
- Facebook Pages
- Most Google products and services
How do you set-up a ‘Zap’ with Ruler Analytics?
Setting up a Trigger and Action with Zapier is known as a ‘Zap.’ For the purpose of this how-to guide, we will keep things simple by setting up an SMS alert (text message) for every time Ruler Analytics identifies a website conversion.
First, you will need to click on the option ‘Create new Zap,’ after which you will need to search for Ruler Analytics in your app list.
Next, you will need to set-up your trigger. After finding Ruler Analytics in your app list, you will be asked to select the trigger you would like to use. For this example, we are going to use the trigger ‘new conversion.’
If you haven’t already, you will be asked to log in to your Ruler Analytics account, as this enables Zapier to gather the data it needs to set-up your trigger. After completing this step, you will then need to select your website
Now we can move onto your action. Remember we are going to use an ‘SMS’ alert for our example;
Select whether you wish to trigger a phone call or SMS.
Enter the phone number you want the information to be sent to. You will soon receive a PIN to authorise your mobile phone number.
Next, you will be given the option to personalise the message that Zapier sends to your phone when there is a trigger in Ruler Analytics. Once you are happy with your message, click on create and continue.
Congratulations, you have successfully set up your first Zap. You can use Ruler Analytics to set-up triggers for:
- New Calls
- New companies
- New conversions
But now that you know how to create SMS alerts for new conversions, why not challenge yourself and explore the other capabilities of Zapier by setting up an integration using Pipedrive as well?
How to set up Ruler Analytics with Pipedrive integration
For this example, we are going to use the trigger ‘new company.’ Seeing as you already know how to set-up a trigger, we are going to skip this step and go straight to the action. Don’t forget you can always reference our first example if you get stuck.
Search for Pipedrive in the action apps dropdown menu. Once you have found it, you will be required to login to your Pipedrive account if you haven’t already done so. You can then select your desired option. Because we have chosen the ‘new company’ trigger, let’s create a new deal in Pipedrive (deals are opportunities that can be moved through the pipeline).
You will then be asked to set-up your Pipedrive deal. Even though the new company trigger allows you to add a company name, business address, and marketing source to your Pipedrive deal, we are going to use a test name for this example.
After confirming the details, your newly created deal should theoretically appear in your Pipedrive account. Once again, well done!
Along with the ability to automate repetitive tasks, Zapier also has the potential to increase efficiency and boost productivity, as members of staff won’t need to waste time manually moving data from one source to another.
What’s more, with Ruler Analytics integration, triggers provide greater insight into the performance of your site, while actions ensure you never miss out on crucial calls, conversions, or company information. We feel as though Ruler Analytics and Zapier can work hand in hand to quickly identify leads and close in on prospects with greater accuracy.
Zapier is not included in the cost of Ruler Analytics, so you will need to pay them a fee before integrating with any web app. However, Zapier does have a 14-day free trial for you to see whether it can improve and enhance your lead generation and sales prospecting.
If you are not signed up to Ruler Analytics either, you can also take advantage of our 30-day free trial – which doesn’t ask you to hand over any credit card details.
